Business Advisor Program Manager

Position Information:

 

  • Bachelor’s in Business or related field or a combined 5-7 years of small business ownership experience in a service industry; 5-7 years of professional consulting to small business in management and operations; and preferably five years as a staff member within a non-profit or economic development organization serving education or child care.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with others through authenticity and skilled follow through
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat applications, and MS Outlook
  • Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience handling confidential information and maintaining discretion with sensitive topics
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and/or periodic physical examination, annual TB skin test, and complete background check every 24 months; and
  • Access to reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

Work is performed remotely with strategic visits on-site at Prime locations in Tarrant County as needed. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

The position will involve discretionary travel within Tarrant County to provide business advising services and to attend selected meetings or events and requires access to an insured and reliable vehicle for transportation.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds; light lifting of supplies and materials;
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities:

The Program Manager provides direct services and provides management services through participation in the development, recommendation, implementation and administration of policies, procedures and processes in support of Prime Pilot Business Advising operations. The Program Manager is a systems thinker that sees the broad picture and works well in a collaborative environment. This role requires a broad base of business knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Direct Services- The Program Manager serves as a Business Advisor working one-on-one with Prime participants, delivering quality services to include entrepreneur engagement strategies responsive to the needs of the community served. (See full Business Advising job description)

Management Services- The Program Manager helps guide the organization’s business development goals and work shoulder-to-shoulder with program management to foster a strong climate for child care business growth. The manager develops new programs and evaluates and recommends improvements to existing programs and services. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Business Advisors.
  • Recommend staff for hire, evaluate, train, provide corrective actions and recommend dismissal of staff as necessary.
  • Coordinate and manage small business services consistent with applicable requirements which may include the development of business plans, marketing plans, financial plans, access to capital, and/or other applicable areas.
  • Utilize the project’s customer relations management system (HubSpot), review CRM for completion and accuracy and identify documentation errors in the preparation of monthly/quarterly reports. 
  • Provide statistical analysis and summarize findings in applicable reports or other communication mediums.
  • Serve as a liaison with the collaborative partners to provide information on advising services.

Essential Responsibilities

Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills

Direct Service

  • Demonstrated business knowledge in developing financial plans, wage plans, business plans, marketing plans, access to capital, and/or other applicable areas.
  • Possess high proficiency in computer technology including CRM (HubSpot); Microsoft Suite; in developing plans and approaches to implement profitable solution strategies to run a successful small business. 
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and the ability to work well independently without close supervision.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Management Services

  • Developing a framework for the Prime Business Advising program.
  • Versed in adult learning principles and supervision.
  • Analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and making recommendations in support of goals.
  • Monitoring and evaluating coaching methods and modes of delivery.
  • Preparing a variety of reports related to operational activities, including statistical analysis.
  • Developing, recommending, implementing, and monitoring policies, procedures, and workflow.
  • Utilizing computer technology used for communication, data gathering and reporting.
  • Communicating effectively through oral and written mediums.
